Olivia Rodrigo went retro to the “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” question-and-answer on Wednesday in Los Angeles, wearing in a polka dot Alessandra Rich minidress.

Amongst the star-studded lineup at The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes Q&A event, held at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles, Olivia Rodrigo shone bright. The musician and actress, who penned the emotive ballad “Can’t Catch Me Now” for the highly anticipated Hunger Games prequel film, joined director Francis Lawrence and novelist Suzanne Collins on the panel moderated by actress Venus Van Serg.

Ever the style star, Rodrigo commanded attention in a polka-dot Alessandra Rich minidress and shiny black slingback pumps. With their pointed toes and thin straps wrapped delicately around her heels, the sleek shoes added a sophisticated accent to her darling dotted dress.

Rodrigo’s footwear for the evening featured patent vinyl uppers with a subtle sheen, triangular toes, and buckle embellishments across the front for a decorative touch. Perched atop svelte stiletto heels around 3 inches in height, the pumps boosted the musician’s petite 5’4” frame as she held court on stage. With their timeless silhouette and understated elegance, the shoes were very much in line with Rodrigo’s signature aesthetic.

From her early breakout hits “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U” to her emotional sophomore record “Sour,” Rodrigo has captivated Gen-Z with her heartfelt songwriting talent. Though just 19, she’s also rapidly established herself as an arbiter of cool-girl style. The singer frequently steps out in ’90s and Y2K-inspired pieces like baby tees, mini skirts, and platform shoes.

For formal appearances like The Hunger Games panel, however, Rodrigo often veers into more sophisticated territory with her outfit selections. Though still youthful and playful at its core, her polka-dot mini paired with sheer Wolford tights and slingback heels felt both age-appropriate and elegant. Together with understated jewelry like diamond hoops and a cherry red pout, the look encapsulated Rodrigo’s je ne sais quoi star power and innate sense of style.

In December, “Can’t Catch Me Now” made the Original Song Oscar shortlist, curated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This means Rodrigo is eligible to secure an Oscar at the Academy Awards 2024 in March.

As Rodrigo helps usher in ‘The Hunger Games’ for a new generation, she stays true to her aesthetic vision. The sleek black slingbacks expertly balanced girlish charm and refined elegance, much like the singer-songwriter herself. Though just at the start of her career, Rodrigo continuously proves she’s one to watch on both the music charts and red carpets to come.
