Milan Fashion Week Fall 2024: Stella Maxwell Stuns in Claret Cut-Out Dress at Missoni Show
As the autumn leaves descended on Milan this past weekend, so did the fashion elite for the city’s biannual fixture of sartorial splendor. Leading the glamour parade at the Missoni show was none other than supermodel Stella Maxwell, her trademark blonde locks flowing behind a scene-stealing asymmetric dress in rich shades of oxblood and fuchsia.
With an air of old Hollywood mystique, Stella captivated the front row in the body-skimming, one-shouldered creation featuring a thigh-high slit to showcase her legendary stems. As the belle of the ball, she swept into the venue turning heads with her va-va-voom silhouette which was cinched to perfection at the waist before culminating in a slim tie strap cascading down one arm in tune with the dress’ single bell sleeve. A vision of modern elegance and just-right charm, Stella accessorized minimally, letting the fluid drape of fabric take center stage, set atop gold barely-there stilettos.
Nearby basking in Stella’s glow was rising It-girl Mia Regan, the envy of designers everywhere as she seems to bag all the best invitations. For Missoni’s retro sojourn through the decades, Mia complemented Stella’s punchy palette in more muted tones of sandy beige. Her outer layer came by way of an oversized collared coat with of-the-moment fuzzy trim that added a tactile element over an otherwise streamlined ribbed knit matching set.
The model, 33, put on a leggy display in a claret red and pink one-shoulder dress which featured a front split. Her garment featured a sleeve only to one side while it was cinched in at the waist. A length of material hung down from where it was tied at the neckline and rested to her side, while she completed her look by opting for a pair of gold open-toed heels.
As Alberto’s designs hit the catwalk, the collection did not disappoint. True to the heritage Italian fashion house’s roots, Missoni’s signature zigzag and checkered textiles abounded. For Autumn/Winter 2024, the patterns and psychedelic color variations came layered over cropped jackets, plush fur-trimmed coats, sleek bodysuits and plenty of the label’s hallmark knit dresses. Standouts included a patchwork ankle-grazing number with balloon sleeves and plunging neckline, a rich oxblood midi dress with keyhole cut-outs across the bodice, and metallic gold crochet pieces that picked up the sparkle from Stella’s diva-worthy shoes.
When the final fierce feline frocks had strutted, it was clear this would be a season where Missoni’s distinctive DNA dazzles under Alberto’s youthful direction. And while all eyes turn next to Paris Couture, the recipient of this week’s style crown was undisputed. Hail to Stella Maxwell, the queen who so memorably launched Milan Fashion Week into the stratosphere – and the coming autumn – in head-to-toe fearless fashion.
