The Stars Aligned in Gucci at the LACMA Art + Film Gala
The red carpet was aglow with glamour and Gucci at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s eleventh annual Art + Film Gala on Saturday night. A-listers brought their fashion A-game to the star-studded soiree, which was presented by Gucci.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck made their first official red carpet appearance as a married couple. Lopez dazzled in a champagne silk organza gown by Gucci featuring a lace skirt and twenties-inspired fringe detailing along the sleeves and hem. Affleck complemented his bride in a classic black tuxedo with satin peak lapels.
While Lopez went for Old Hollywood glam, Kim Kardashian caused a stir in a hot pink strapless gown with a thigh-high leg slit. The siren wore her newly dyed platinum locks in a sleek updo and added opera-length black leather gloves for a dramatic finish. Kardashian’s gown molded to her enviable curves and she amped up the look with chunky pink jewels at her ears, wrist and fingers.
In one of the most whimsical looks of the night, Billie Eilish wore a custom champagne Gucci corset and skirt set embroidered with the brand’s monogram pattern. She topped off the doll-like ensemble with Gucci’s new vegan Horsebit 1955 shoulder bag in pale pink. Eilish’s highlighter green hair brilliantly complemented the pastel hue of her set. Lupita Nyong’o captivated in a sheer burgundy tulle gown by Gucci that featured a skeletal bodice with criss-cross detailing. The ethereal dress was layered over a nude underpinning and the 12 Years a Slave star finished the gothic look with Bulgari jewels, including an elaborate ruby and diamond choker.
Blackpink singer and burgeoning fashion icon Rosé brought romantic glamour to the red carpet in a pale pink floral gown by Saint Laurent. The one-shouldered style featured a voluminous ruffle sleeve, bow-tie shoulder detail and curve-hugging silhouette.
Rosé’s newly dyed red hair also perfectly matched the pink and red floral print. Supporting her longtime friend Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde donned a body-skimming black gown from the Gucci Love Parade collection. The slinky number boasted a mock neck, long sleeves and keyhole cutout at the midriff. Wilde topped it off with open-toe sandals and Gucci’s new Liquid Lip Color in raisin.
Castmates from Killers of the Flower Moon also united on the red carpet after promotions for their film were impacted by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. Lily Gladstone was resplendent in a strapless red silk cape gown from Gucci’s Love Parade collection that featured a ruffled train and romantic sheer sleeves. Jamie Okuma’s dazzling dentalium shell earrings provided the perfect complement. Cara Jade Myers exuded ethereal beauty in a hand-embroidered ivory gown by Rodarte embellished with crystals at the waist.
It was a Gucci love fest inside the gala as well. Dakota Johnson, the face of the brand’s fragrance line, selected a slinky pewter column dress with spaghetti straps. Elle Fanning opted for romantic elegance in a blush strapless gown with an embellished waist and ballgown skirt.
Her sister Dakota Fanning also chose a vibrant Gucci look–a color-blocked gown in jade and yellow with billowing cape sleeves. Jared Leto commanded attention in a bold purple Gucci suit sans shirt underneath.
In a night filled with glamour, Gucci clearly ruled the red carpet. The luxury Italian fashion house and its creative director Alessandro Michele breathed their maximalist, eccentric spirit into the soiree. While the men largely stuck to traditional black tie, the women dazzled in an array of colorful, imaginative Gucci creations. But the highlight was seeing so many Hollywood stars come together to celebrate art, film and fashion in spectacular style.
