Demi’s Dazzling Disco Moment at the 2023 CFDA Awards
Last night at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards, A-list actress Demi Moore lit up the red carpet in a glittering retro-inspired ensemble. Attending the star-studded event held at the Museum of Natural History in New York City, the raven-haired beauty embodied the night’s theme of “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” in a shimmering discothèque-worthy look.
Moore captivated the cameras in a metallic paillette-embellished strapless column gown in hues of silver, gunmetal, and black. The striking ensemble featured allover glossy sequins and circle-shaped appliqués that added intricate texture and eye-catching light-catching sparkle. A highlight of Puerto Rican designer Willy Chavarria’s Spring 2024 collection for Volume Labs, Demi’s dazzling after-dark number was plucked straight from the disco era – an homage to the glitz and glamour of 1970s American fashion.
Ever the style star, Moore provided the perfect dose of old Hollywood elegance to bring the vintage-inspired dress into the modern age. She accessorized with classic black satin Stuart Weitzman stilettos and a shimmering black Carolina Herrera metal mesh clutch, allowing the dress to take center stage. With her raven tresses swept back into a polished updo with cascading curls, a glossy nude lip, and just the right amount of smoky eye makeup, Demi proved that she just gets better with age.
The 60-year-old actress and entrepreneur attended the prestigious fashion awards ceremony to present Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow with the prestigious Innovation Award. Goop, Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle brand, has made significant contributions to the industry through its cutting-edge e-commerce platform and innovative approach to retail.
In presenting the award, Moore dazzled in a look expertly styled by celebrity stylist Brad Goreski. According to reports, the shimmering ensemble came straight off the Spring 2024 runway, as part of CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Michael Kors’ final collection for the Michael Kors brand.
Though Moore has been a style icon since her breakout in the 1980s Brat Pack era, the Ghost actress has also proven she has an eye for fashion design. In 2022, Moore teamed up with sustainable swimwear brand Andie to launch a vintage-inspired limited edition collection of swimsuits. Featuring retro silhouettes crafted from luxurious fabric sourced in Italy and France, the collaboration allowed Moore to infuse her personal aesthetic into flattering, fashion-forward swimwear.
Held at the Museum of Natural History and hosted by actress Anne Hathaway, the 2023 CFDA Awards promises to be a memorable night celebrating American fashion. And with her scene-stealing disco dress, Demi Moore is sure to end up on every best dressed list.
