Keke Palmer Brings Star Power to Host 2023 Soul Train Awards
Emmy-winning triple threat Keke Palmer is bringing her signature charm and effervescent energy to the 2023 Soul Train Awards stage. The acclaimed actress, singer, and TV personality will both host and perform at the star-studded event celebrating the biggest names in soul, R&B, and hip hop music.
Taking place in Los Angeles on November 26th, this year’s Soul Train Awards will see Palmer presiding over a night of spectacular performances, must-see moments, and honors for the hottest artists ruling the charts. Palmer’s multi-hyphenate talents make her the perfect choice to steer the big show, oozing charisma, quick wit, and captivating stage presence.
Joining Palmer as performers are an array of top-tier talents, including velvet-voiced crooner BJ The Chicago Kid, sultry songstress Coco Jones, gospel standout Danté Bowe, viral pop sensation Fridayy, critically acclaimed R&B songwriter Muni Long, and iconic 90s girl group SWV. With Palmer backed by this dynamite lineup, spectacular musical numbers are guaranteed.
Leading the nominations this year are R&B heavyweight SZA, neo-soul siren Summer Walker, and silky superstar Usher, each up for an impressive nine Soul Train Awards across various categories. With their repeat domination of the R&B and hip hop charts, seeing these hot hitmakers battling it out promises excitement.
Palmer burst onto the scene as a child star, stealing scenes in 2006’s Akeelah and the Bee. She cemented her small-screen stardom with sitcoms True Jackson, VP and Scream Queens, before transitioning to adult roles in acclaimed films like Nope and Alice. Palmer made history as the youngest talk show host ever with her BET series Just Keke in 2014.
After giving birth to her first child earlier this year, 30-year-old Palmer shows no signs of slowing down. She released her second album Big Boss this spring to critical acclaim, proving both her staying power and versatility.
Palmer said in a statement, “I’m so excited to be hosting and performing at the Soul Train Awards! I’ve been blessed to have collaborated with some of the most talented artists in music, TV and film and can’t wait to bring all of that energy and celebrate Black excellence on that stage.”
BET Executive Vice President Connie Orlando shared, “Keke Palmer is a globally recognized multihyphenate talent who embodies confidence and positivity…we are honored to have her back on the Soul Train Awards stage. As always, expect our star-studded slate of soulful artists and can’t-miss moments to illuminate your screens for a night dedicated to soul music.”
With show-stopping numbers by today’s hottest R&B acts and Palmer’s witty hosting, the 2023 Soul Train Awards promises to be another historic night spotlighting the luminaries of soul, past and present. Music lovers worldwide will be tuned in for the can’t-miss event celebrating Black music and excellence.
