Bright Lights, Big City Sounds: Kate Hudson Shines in Musical Debut
The stage was set for Kate Hudson to showcase her multi-talented prowess on The Tonight Show this week, making her highly anticipated debut as a musician with the electrifying performance of her single “Gonna Find Out.” Donning a sleek metallic mini dress that caught the spotlights just right, Hudson commanded the stage with undeniable star power, backed by a sizzling live band and two powerhouse backup singers.
For the Almost Famous actress, this moment signified the culmination of a lifelong passion and the brave embrace of her authenticity. As she revealed to host Jimmy Fallon, “This is realer to me than anything I’ve done in my entire life. It was always this, I just needed to get to a place where I was ready…and the songs got to the core of who I am.”
Slated for release on May 17th, Hudson’s debut album Glorious promises to be an eclectic exploration of genres, from soul-stirring rock to heartfelt country melodies. This sonic smorgasbord is a testament to Hudson’s versatility and her collaborative prowess, having co-written the tracks alongside her fiancé Danny Fujikawa and the legendary Linda Perry.
“It was so fun because I’d never had a collaborative writing experience,” Hudson gushed. “The first thing on it, actually is probably what I’m going to sing tonight. And I was like, ‘I don’t know. I want it to feel swampy. Let’s start with something swampy.’ I don’t know what happened but in two weeks we had 26 songs, Linda was like ‘I think we need to stop.’ Because we were on a roll.”
The album’s sweeping title track, “Glorious,” holds a particularly special place in Hudson’s heart. “It’s a big sweeping ballad. Linda and I wrote that song together in like 10 minutes. It was just one of those songs that we both looked at each other after writing it and went, ‘Oh, that was intense.'”
While music has been her first love, Hudson’s boundless talents continue to shine across various mediums. She tantalized viewers with a glimpse into her upcoming untitled comedy series centered around the world of basketball, a project she’s co-creating with comedy powerhouse Mindy Kaling. “I’m having so much fun right now,” Hudson beamed. “I’m having the time of my life.”
With Glorious on the horizon and a slate of exciting projects in the works, Kate Hudson is undoubtedly having her moment – a testament to the power of following one’s passions and embracing the many facets that make up a truly iconic, multidimensional artist.
