In a twist worthy of her own songwriting prowess, Taylor Swift<\/a> finds herself in the midst of drama with an unlikely adversary – a Florida student tracking her private jet emissions.<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift has parted ways with one of her private jets amid news that she\u2019s demanding people stop tracking her flights. The Federal Aviation Authority\u2019s website confirmed the singer\u2019s separation from her Dassault Falcon 900 on Jan. 30. Previously listed under SATA LLC, a company sharing an address with Taylor Swift Productions in Nashville, the jet had been in Swift\u2019s possession since 2009.<\/p>\n

Jack Sweeney, a University of Central Florida scholar, has been chronicling the comings and goings of celebrities’ aircrafts through his social media accounts. However, Swift’s legal team recently served him a cease-and-desist, alleging he engaged in “stalking and harassing behavior” by publishing precise details of the songstress’s travels. This move leaves Swift with just one private jet. The Dassault 900, capable of accommodating up to 12 passengers, served Swift\u2019s travel needs until its last recorded flight on Jan. 30. Meanwhile, her Dassault 7X, with a slightly larger cabin and capacity for 16 passengers, remains operational.<\/p>\n

While Sweeney insists his @taylorswiftjets pages merely share public FAA data, Swift’s camp argues the detailed flight logs provide a “road map” for those wishing her harm. The letter sternly warns this is “a life-or-death matter” given Swift’s long history of dealing with stalkers.<\/p>\n

This conflict comes on the heels of a scathing study labeling the 12-time Grammy winner as the top “celebrity offender” for private jet emissions. The report claims her jet’s 170 flights last year produced over 9,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, though her team contends some blame lies with past aircraft ownership.<\/p>\n

While Sweeney stands firm that he’s engaged in protected speech by sharing existing data, the cease-and-desist threatens legal action if the accounts aren’t shuttered by year’s end. His lawyer fired back, stating there is “no threat” and accusing Swift’s side of trying to “bully” his client to quash bad PR.<\/p>\n
