Jennifer Lawrence Sets the Record Straight on Those Plastic Surgery Rumors<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jennifer Lawrence is certainly no stranger to the glare of the spotlight, but the actress found herself the subject of some particularly intense scrutiny after stepping out with a noticeably refreshed appearance in recent months. When she arrived at the star-studded Dior fashion show in Paris this September, the critics were quick to cry plastic surgery, convinced that the 33-year-old’s smoother complexion and subtly plumped features were too good to be completely natural. The chatter only intensified when she attended the unveiling of the Saks Fifth Avenue holiday windows in New York last week, lighting up the event in a sequined tan dress that had all eyes trained on the Oscar winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than ignoring the cosmetic work speculation altogether, Lawrence tackled the gossip head-on in her latest Interview magazine cover story. While chatting with Kylie Jenner<\/a>, herself no stranger to enhanced beauty rumors, Lawrence credits the transformative power of makeup for her noticeably glowed-up glam \u2014 not a nip and tuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s incredible what makeup can do because I work with Hung [Vanngo], who overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon, because everybody in the last few months since I’ve been working with him is convinced that I had eye surgery,” Lawrence shared. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018I didn\u2019t have eye surgery. I\u2019m doing makeup.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jenner, who told Lawrence she’s been seeing the pictures and thinks she looks “amazing,” seems to agree that a little contouring and highlighting wizardry is at play. But Lawrence admits the court of public opinion may require more convincing, joking, “Well, apparently I\u2019ve had full plastic surgery.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In reality, Lawrence attributes the change to good old-fashioned aging, noting that critics often unfairly compare images of her as a bright-eyed ingenue to her more mature (and confident) 33-year-old self. And she certainly makes an excellent point. A red carpet regular since her early twenties, Lawrence has quite literally grown up in front of the cameras, making conclusions about any tweaks and updates seem slightly premature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the actress is hardly the first celebrity to find herself in the hot seat over perceived improvements. Jenner notes she’s been under an equally intense microscope since appearing alongside her famous family on Keeping Up With the Kardashians as a young teen. Though she\u2019s become significantly more glam over the years, Jenner maintains that expert makeup application combined with the inevitable sharpening that comes with getting older plays the biggest role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll see before and after photos when I\u2019m 12 years old versus 26 and my eyebrows are filled differently. I have contour on,\u201d she tells Lawrence. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018How can you compare my 12-year-old face and say I\u2019ve gotten my jaw shaved and eyelids removed?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018What are we talking about?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clearly, Lawrence agrees wholeheartedly. While a refresh was certainly in order, she maintains that Vanngo\u2019s makeup mastery, not medical enhancement, is responsible for her red carpet revival.
