Kim Kardashian\u2019s Mini-Me Has Notes on Her Met Gala Style<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Kim Kardashian prepared to don archival Schiaparelli at this year’s Met Gala, with a gown composed of no less than 50,000 cultured pearls set in gold, 10-year-old daughter North West made herself comfortable on the nearby settee. Ever the budding fashion scion, North offered creative director Daniel Roseberry her candid thoughts on the look taking shape before them. \u201cThe pearls look fake,\u201d North gently critiqued upon inspection of a trial strand, \u201cit\u2019s looking like… beachy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“These are very expensive, real pearls,” Mommy dearest clarified, as Roseberry jokingly bemoaned that his \u201cworst nightmare\u201d was unfolding. Yet North remained politely steadfast in her conviction that \u201cI like the pearls, I just don\u2019t like that it looks like from the dollar store.\u201d And with that singularly unfiltered remark, a mini media mogul was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Kimberly later rationalized to the camera in signature Kardashian koan, \u201cI\u2019m trying to teach her, that like, you don\u2019t need to just jump in and annihilate people for no reason. There\u2019s a way to soften it up and not hurt people\u2019s feelings.\u201d But North\u2019s precocious eye is clearly hereditary. What else would one expect from a girl whose earliest ensembles were Balmain and Givenchy? \u201cComing out of the hotel with North is just so much fun,\u201d said the mother of four. \u201dI just love that we\u2019re having this moment and we can talk about it. She really is into it all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And North’s budding authority extends beyond her mom\u2019s black-tie looks. She also favors Kim\u2019s 2019 Thierry Mugler \u201cwet dress\u201d as the standout of her Met Gala repertoire thus far. Contrastingly, she \u201cdidn\u2019t really like\u201d the Balenciaga ensemble that infamously obscured Kim\u2019s face and form in all-black jersey. \u201cIt looked like you were wearing a plastic bag and you\u2019re suffocating,\u201d North attested. Kim\u2019s 2013 floral Givenchy gown \u2013 a red carpet revelation at the time, as it hugged her baby bump during her first pregnancy with North \u2013 was likewise subject to the kindergartner\u2019s veto: \u201cI really don\u2019t like that one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But on fashion\u2019s big night this May, North offered Kim her blessing along with a pre-gala massage. And she continued to shower her one-of-a-kind mother with support upon arriving to the star-studded event. North’s Bitmap mint green dad sneakers may have contrasted with her mom\u2019s gilded glamour, but she understands Kim\u2019s passion for fashion on a profoundly personal level.
