Juno Temple Resurrects a Jennifer Lopez<\/a>\u2013Worn Gucci Gown for “Ted Lasso” Premiere<\/p>\n

There are red carpet moments, and then there are red carpet moments that double as a history lesson in fashion archives. On Tuesday evening, Juno Temple delivered the latter, arriving at Brooklyn’s BAM Harvey Theater for the “Ted Lasso” Season Four premiere in a piece of Gucci lore: a turquoise silk gown from the house’s spring 2003 collection, first immortalized on the red carpet by Jennifer Lopez<\/a> more than twenty years ago.<\/p>\n

The dress is unmistakably a product of the Tom Ford era at Gucci<\/a>, when the designer’s vision for the house leaned fully into sensuality as a design language. Here, that ethos shows up in a deep V-neckline reinforced with corset-style lacing at the front, a daring thigh-high slit, and a sculpted cutout at the back that peeks through with quiet confidence. It is a gown built to command a room, and two decades on, it still does exactly that.<\/p>\n

Temple, working with stylist Raquel Paiva<\/a>, chose not to replicate the original styling but to reinterpret it entirely. Rather than leaning into the gown’s inherent sultriness with matching austerity, she countered it with a sense of play: a diamond choker by Jacob & Co.<\/a> added polish and shine at the neckline, while a Judith Leiber clutch, fashioned whimsically in the shape of a hot dog, injected a dose of irreverence into an otherwise formal silhouette. Her hair, worn blond, curly, and half-up, softened the look further, striking a balance between old Hollywood glamour and red-carpet wit.<\/p>\n

The choice is very much in keeping with a broader movement currently sweeping award-season and premiere dressing: celebrities are increasingly bypassing the newest runway collections in favor of archival finds, particularly pieces from the late ’90s and early 2000s, as Y2K fashion continues its cultural resurgence. For Temple, a four-time Emmy nominee, the gown is only the latest entry in what has become a personal signature: a well-documented affinity for vintage dressing. Just last week, at the film’s Los Angeles premiere, she stepped out in a 2001 Roberto Cavalli piece, once again paired with a Judith Leiber novelty bag, this time shaped like a soccer ball, a nod to the show itself.<\/p>\n
