The Final Revelation: Wendy Williams’ Family Speaks Out in Riveting Finale<\/p>\n

In the dramatic conclusion of the groundbreaking Wendy Williams documentary saga, the oft-private star’s sister Wanda finally steps into the spotlight. “It has been a long journey for our family and for Wendy,” she remarked in the finale, aptly titled “Her Own.” “I hope to show the love we have for each other and for Wendy, and the journey we’ve been through that has not always been perfect.”<\/p>\n

In the documentary, Williams’ friend and former co-worker, DJ Boof, describes becoming concerned about her health while working with her as she filmed her talk show from home in 2020. Noting her delayed reactions and tiredness, he says he thought, “This is not COVID doing this.”<\/p>\n

Williams was hospitalized that May. Her nephew, Travis Finnie, says that DJ Boof “was there, and he called us crying, saying that she’s going to die, and she needs help.” Finnie adds that Williams received three blood transfusions, and “that’s the only reason she’s alive today.” He blames this medical emergency on Williams’ drinking.DJ Boof also recalls going to the hospital to check on Williams at that time and being unsure if she knew who he was. “I just felt like she wasn’t the same person anymore,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Doctors basically said that because she was drinking so much it started affecting her headspace and brain,” Wendy’s son Kevin Jr. confessed, prompting a slow train of troubling revelations from the family about Wendy’s declining health and restricted rights. Wendy’s niece Alex Finnie learned of the dementia diagnosis in Fall 2022, telling cameras, “It’s little things like \u2018When\u2019s your birthday?\u2019…but after seeing my aunt now, things were clearly not normal. It\u2019s heartbreaking.”<\/p>\n

While Wendy\u2019s court-ordered guardianship was supposedly only over financial matters, the finale exposes how the arrangement has bled into every aspect of her once-vibrant life. \u201cEverything with Wendy is a court decision, everything,\u201d said manager Will Shelby with visible frustration. \u201cShe\u2019s not making any decisions on her own. Everything has to be decided by the court.” His words ring all too true when a clandestine meeting Wendy takes in LA \u2014 potentially to relaunch her storied television career \u2014 draws scolding texts from her anonymous guardian.<\/p>\n

As the credits roll, we’re left wishing Wendy well on her continued road to recovery, and hoping she’ll someday regain control of her remarkable destiny.
